Holidays In Japan( Chapter 1)

It has been our families’ dreams of going to Japan for holidays since Ah Girl and Ah Boy beginning to like Japanese cuisine. It has always been “ Mummy, we must go to Japan to eat real Japanese food.”

Going to Japan to most people would be following Group Tours from tour companies, however we decided otherwise.

Big Daddy initially was not very convinced that we could go to Japan on our own without following tour group. But eventually, he opined that we could just take it easy if we could not get around in Japan. Alas,,, we found it so easy and convenient to travel in Japan the moment we set foot in Narita Airport.

Of course, before departed for Japan, I have done my homework. I searched the web, and found that Japan’s tourism infrastructures are so good, practically I could get any information I needed. Below is the web site that I surfed for most of the information I needed.

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2028.html

Since this would be our first trip to Japan, we decided to visit Tokyo and Osaka only. Thus, we stayed in Tokyo for six nights and moved on to Osaka by bullet train. We stayed in Osaka for four nights and we returned home from Osaka.

7As

That's the number of As Ah boy got for his PMR Exam. Fabulous, isn't it?

In fact I should have written this post the day when Ah Boy got his PMR result on the 24th December. However, I just couldn't set my mind to write anything lately. I suppose age is catching up on me... I am half a century plus one year when my next birthday comes. Sad, not at all.

It's so wonderful that Ah Boy got straight As for his PMR Exam. Ha..ha.. at least my constant nagging and supervisions at the last one month has pulled through good results from Ah Boy. Though at times he was very agitated with me, but what the heck, the ultimate results are my main concerns. Well done, Boy... Mummy so proud of you!!!

Of course talking about exam results, Ah Girl did well in her Melbourne U first year final exams too. I am so happy and proud of Ah Girl. She has constantly produced good results since her school days. Bravo,,,, girl, you are wonderful.

musing

I am sitting in Coffee Beans Bangsar Shopping Centre as I write this post. Cool!!, isn't it?

Wah! try to look cool with my notebook on, surfing the net, as what young people do now-a-days. What am I doing here?

Actually, I am waiting for Ah Boy. He has his class dinner on at this moment at Chilli's in Bangsar Shopping Centre. I didn't go home after I dropped him at the restaurant, because it was traffic jam the way home. So I decided to "lepak" at the shopping centre while waiting for him.

Of course I had my dinner first before I ended up sitting here. I tried the Japanese Restaurant at this shopping centre. I just ordered Softshell Crab handroll and Temaki Udon. Well, nothing to comment on the food, just so..so.. only. Portion of the Temaki Udon was so little, could hardly filled my hunger.

Ha..ha, don't know what Ah Girl will say if she sees me here typing on my computer, can't imagine?

PMR Exam

Finally, Ah Boy's PMR exam is over. He had his last paper this morning. And now he's out enjoying himself with his friends.

He had some of the objective subject papers marked by his teachers, and he actually did very well in his exam. Though he did not study as much as we wanted him to, he scored. Well done, boy!!

So it's not how much you study, but how smart you study, I suppose.

Cream of Mushroom soup

I tried to cook cream of mushroom soup today, and it turned to be quite nice, not bad at all, Ah Boy said. Ah Boy likes cream of mushroom soup. He actually likes western food, but not Ah Girl. Anyway, now my next target is cream of asparagus soup. I am going to try to cook it tomorrow. When Ah Girl is home this coming Friday, I will cook for her, see what she's her comment!

Beef Steak

Finally, I managed to cook up a reasonably nice beef steak for Ah Boy. I have been able to cook the beef steak at the right degree of tenderness, ie medium to well done, but have not been able to cook some nice sauce to go with the steak. Yesterday, I tried to cook mushroom sauce. I got the recipe from the internet. And it turned out ok, quite nice, Ah Boy said.

Bravo! I shall try other type of sauces next time.

"Pythagorus Theorem"

"Pythagorus Theorem", a term I have not used for almost 30 years, but lately have to looking into Ah Boy's Maths book to learn again what it is. Tangient, Sine, Cosine seems ages long gone, but came back again. Even though I have not dealt with these Maths formulae and theories after so many years, it is not difficult at all to learn them so that I can explain or teach Ah Boy when he is not sure of the answers to his Maths' questions.

I wonder whether am I the only mother among his friends or classmates that still coach her child in his school work? Though initially he was a bit unwilling to let me teach/explain to him, but he's ok with it now. I suppose he realises that his mother has made efforts to learn from his book in order to teach/explain to him those topics that he's not sure of.

Once Ah Girl is back from Melbourne for her holidays in September, then she can fit in to coach him. Ah Girl is very good in Maths subject. Hopefully, Ah Boy will score A for his Maths. But he has really improved a lot lately in his Maths subject. Well done, Boy.
